- ➤ The YWCA of Lewiston-Clarkston will host a Martin Luther King Jr. Day community event from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 19 at the YWCA (300 Main Street), featuring a mini-exhibit on MLK's legacy and complimentary refreshments; the exhibit remains on display until Jan. 23. Dailyfly
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Mountain View School District 244 reported an increase in Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease cases among students and is asking parents to keep sick children home & follow CDC guidelines. Students may return when they have been fever-free for 24 hours, sores have cleared or crusted, and they can eat and drink normally. Dailyfly
- ➤ At LCSC’s Spring All-Campus Meeting on Jan. 15, President Cynthia Pemberton noted a 1.8% rise in spring headcount and a 3.2% increase in full-time enrollment. She said a widely supported name change proposal will go to the legislature — campus upgrades and new mascot options are under review. KLEW
- ➤ Lewis-Clark State College will hold Homecoming in the spring from April 20 to 25, featuring early week student events and doubleheader baseball games at Harris Field (with alumni events on the weekend). The 'Glow Up' celebration is expected to boost school pride. Big Country News

- ➤ IDFG approved its updated strategic plan (2026) last night to manage wildlife conflicts by working with private landowners. Clearwater Region officials will start managed hunt programs for spring turkey season to benefit both hunters and landowners. KLEW

- ➤ Air travelers arriving at Lewiston Nez Perce County Airport without compliant ID can pay a $45 fee online to use the TSA ConfirmID option starting Feb. 1. The identity verification process may add up to 30 minutes of screening, so travelers should plan ahead. Dailyfly

- ➤ Ski Idaho uses January’s National Ski Safety Awareness Month to remind skiers and snowboarders to follow Your Responsibility Code at local ski resorts (including tips on proper helmet use and safe lift riding). Dailyfly
