- ➤ Avista Utilities announced Friday it is seeking approval to raise residential electricity rates by 13.9% in 2027 and by 25% by 2030, along with natural gas rate increases. The company aims to cover rising energy costs and upgrade aging infrastructure for customers (including those in north Idaho) if the commission approves the proposal. Lewiston Tribune
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Avista is proposing rate hikes that would raise electric bills from about $125 to nearly $158 and natural gas bills from $91 to $100 by 2030, with a 13.9% increase planned in 2027 and smaller rises afterward during an 11-month review process. KHQ
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Idaho residents with disabilities can now open ABLE accounts through a new website (idahoable.com) that lets them save money for disability expenses without affecting public assistance. The program was approved under House Bill 26 in 2025 for those with disabilities that began before age 46. Dailyfly
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ TriState Health and the Clarkston School District met at the board room last night to discuss plans for a school-based health center that will serve students through a TriState clinic. The project uses $770,000 from state funds plus a $250,000 grant and will begin with design and bidding soon. KLEW
