  • Fred Schuellerman sold his Bigfoot collection to a Lewiston museum on Jan. 22 and recounted his personal encounter with the creature. The sale adds a unique twist to a local exhibit featuring folklore.  Big Country News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Raymond Pedrina from LC State was announced by the Cascade Collegiate Conference as its representative for the NAIA Governance and Leadership Academy on April 10 in Kansas City, Missouri - he will gain leadership training to better support student-athletes.  Dailyfly

HEALTH NEWS

  • Blue Cross of Idaho laid off under 90 employees on Wednesday amid organizational changes to boost efficiency & lower costs for its 600,000 members. The nonprofit, which is not required to issue a WARN notice, plans to sell its Meridian headquarters as it shifts to a hybrid work model.  Lewiston Tribune

SPORTS NEWS

  • Lewis-Clark State Athletics will host a free National Girls and Women in Sports Day clinic on Feb. 7 from 12 to 3 p.m. at LC State. Girls in grades K-5 can try sports in one of 75 spots; families receive guardian tickets to a Women’s Basketball game on Feb. 6.  Dailyfly
  • Track athletes Cameron Carrara and Perry Severijnse began LC State’s season at the Lauren McCluskey Memorial Open in Moscow on Thursday, scoring 2,151 and 2,070 points in early heptathlon events; they will compete in the final three events today with Carrara in seventh and Severijnse in 11th.  Dailyfly
  • Fruitland angler Todd Phillips set a new state record on Jan. 13 when he caught a rainbow trout weighing 20.03 pounds at Dworshak Reservoir, with officials certifying it as exceeding the previous record by 0.03 pounds.  Dailyfly
