🌲 Environment
Idaho Fish and Game is starting its annual broodstock collection program on Feb.
2 on the South Fork Clearwater River. Volunteer anglers will help collect hatchery steelhead during daylight hours through April or until goals are met and eligible fish are sent to local hatcheries for spawning.
🏛️ Government
Idaho awarded a $25K grant to the Princeton-Hampton sewer district on January 30 to assess needed upgrades for its system, and the district will spend another $25K to fund the work + address improvements.
Idaho Fish and Game will host meetings in February to gather angler input on spring and summer Chinook seasons.
Events are set in Riggins on Feb. 17, Lewiston and Nampa on Feb. 18, plus Ahsahka on Feb. 19; proposals post online on Feb. 11 + comments accepted until Feb. 22.

Nez Perce County will auction the property at 858 Main St that once housed the Emperor of India restaurant & now sits as a paved lot after a 2019 fire; the auction is set for April 22 at 10 a.m. in the County Courthouse lobby.
Redfin’s December 2025 data shows that buying a home in Lewiston requires about 29% more income than renting, with buyers needing around $94,185 compared to $73,033 (the median sale and rent prices were $367,500 and $1,826).
These figures highlight the tighter market for buyers.
