EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Clarkston School District received a donation from Potlatch No. 1 FCU to install a new video board in the high school's gymnasium. The board will boost athletic events & school assemblies when activated to benefit students and the community. Big Country News
- ➤ Governor Little expanded school choice by signing an executive order on Feb. 16 that opts Idaho into the federal scholarship tax credit program — a move designed to give families more education options. The order directs the State Department of Education to implement the program to support diverse student needs. Big Country News
- ➤ Lewis-Clark State College is asking for campus feedback on adding a physical mascot while keeping its Warriors name; a poll open until Feb. 25 has 288 responses with 37% preferring Wolverine (26% favoring bighorn sheep) among the options under review. Dailyfly
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Since Feb. 19, the Idaho Department of Fish and Game has been using helicopters to capture and radio-collar bighorn sheep along portions of the Snake and Salmon rivers to gather data on their movement. Residents may observe low-flying helicopters until Feb. 24. Dailyfly
- ➤ Fernan Lake and Cocolalla Lake were stocked with catchable-size rainbow trout earlier than usual when Idaho Fish and Game released 6,000 fish into Fernan and 6,900 into Cocolalla due to temporary space limits at the Nampa fish hatchery; regular stocking will resume in May. KHQ
