ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Firefighters from Asotin County Fire District #1 and City of Clarkston Fire responded after 3 a.m. Wednesday to a structure fire on the 1300 block of Maple Street that burned a shop with lumber and craft materials and destroyed a project vehicle — they contained the blaze and reported no injuries.  KLEW

CRIME NEWS

  • Authorities are searching for missing 78-year-old Robert Faultersack who left his home in Thornton at 10 a.m. Tuesday and was last seen near Belgrade on Highway 95 south of Coeur d’Alene—his vehicle’s license plate was recorded yesterday afternoon. Deputies reported he suffers from memory issues and Type 2 diabetes and said his 2015 aqua green Toyota Prius is damaged on the driver’s side—agencies have shared his details while urging anyone with information to call WHITCOM at 509-332-2521.  KHQ
  • A new selfie of Bryan Kohberger, taken six hours after the murders, emerged in court documents as his defense seeks to bar testimony from witness Bushy Eyebrows — the accused faces charges in a quadruple murder case.  KHQ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Lewiston School District announced that Corey Williams will become the new principal of Sacajawea Middle School on July 1 — he was appointed after current principal Tim Sperber was named superintendent. Williams, who served 14 years in school leadership, said he is excited to lead the school and work with its dedicated staff.  KLEW

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Lewiston has contracted Halme Construction, Inc. to begin Phase 1 of a new raw water intake located east of Lewiston along the Clearwater River across from Clearwater Paper—site preparation starts Monday, March 24 and active construction begins on April 7. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers shared-use pathway will be temporarily closed from the Vista Road parking area to Hatwai Junction—unforeseen conditions could alter the schedule.  Dailyfly
  • The Idaho House passed an amended immigration bill by a 61-9 vote that lets law enforcement record a person's documentation status only when they are held for a crime—penalties include misdemeanor or felony charges and deportation for illegal entry as well as a new felony for trafficking a dangerous illegal alien. The ACLU of Idaho said the law risks more racial profiling and stated it will sue if the bill becomes law while it moves to the Senate for review.  Dailyfly

  • Warrior Track and Field signed runner Avery Seal for next season—he will join LC State from Treasure Valley CC and boost the team with his fast 100m, 200m + 400m times. A native of Gooding who helped his high school win relays, Seal impressed coach Mike Collins with his hard work and big goals.  Dailyfly
