ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The Lewiston Fire Department responded to a house fire at 1307 3rd Street around 11:00 p.m. on March 24 and worked for two hours to control flames after police evacuated the home, with damage estimated at $100,000 (which included help from a Clarkston engine) (and the cause remains under investigation).  Big Country News

CRIME NEWS

  • Two Clarkston residents, Benjamin and Mona McKenzie, were arrested on March 24 and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver after a SWAT team searched a home on 8th Street and found methamphetamine, packaging materials, scales, and cash + police say the arrests came after months of surveillance and controlled buys by a confidential informant + the investigation remains ongoing.  Dailyfly

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lewiston Firefighters Local 1773 issued a statement Monday backing a district court ruling—requiring the City of Lewiston to enter mediation-arbitration to resolve its labor dispute as the union had proposed this process in November; the union said the ruling reinforces that contracts matter after a 175-day period without one.  Dailyfly
  • A section of the Lewiston Levee Trail from Lower Goose Pasture near Highway 12 was closed on March 24 for work on the City Raw Water Intake Project. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says it will reopen on October 31.  KLEW
  • The Lewiston Fire Department promoted Reserve Firefighter Joe Evangelho to fulltime after he joined in April 2024 and served with the North Central Fire Protection District—he is now completing his final clinical rotations to earn his paramedic certification.  Dailyfly

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Monday, LC State Baseball swept Eastern Oregon in a twin bill by winning 22 to 4 in one game and 14 to 6 in another—totaling 35 runs for the day. The wins improved the Warriors record to 17 to 8 overall and 14 to 3 in Cascade Conference play.  Dailyfly
  • LC State women’s golf team finished Monday’s first round of the Warrior Spring Classic in Lewiston at 23-over—freshman Giulia Belfontali led individually on an even-par 72 after birdieing four holes to cancel out four bogies. Coach Zach Anderson said the team found early footing but struggled in the back end of their round.  Big Country News
