- ➤ The 7th Annual Swap Event will take place on Saturday, March 29 (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.) at the Holiday Inn in Clarkston where vendors will sell pop culture collectibles. The event will include a cosplay makeup tutorial at 1 p.m. and a Mario Kart tournament starting at 3 p.m. with sign-ups at 2 p.m., and part of the $5 entry fee for ages 6 and older will benefit the LC Valley Youth Resource Center. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Clarkston man, Brandon Lee Witters, 43, was arrested on felony charges of eluding police and grand theft and a misdemeanor for marijuana possession after leading officers on a high-speed chase in a stolen Hyundai Tucson on March 25 in Lewiston - he drove at 70-80 mph through residential streets, abandoned the vehicle near Jimmy John's, and was held on a $35,000 bond. - ➤ Local folk music legend Dan Maher had a heart attack in January and was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer while in hospital; a GoFundMe page is set up to help pay his medical bills. - ➤ Six Idaho educators have been named finalists for the 2025 Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST), including a north Idaho math teacher from Priest River High School. - ➤ The Idaho State Police Commercial Vehicle Safety division said commercial drivers must carry a valid medical certificate starting April 1 or they will be placed out-of-service.
