CRIME NEWS

  • A Lewiston man (49-year-old Gregory S. Chavez) was arrested on March 31 and charged with burglary and two counts of felony aggravated battery after he reportedly tried to stab people at a home on Linden Avenue (officers noted forced entry damage and witness reports of a struggle).  Dailyfly

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Idaho Fish and Game’s annual fur auction will be held online from April 7 through April 21 at 3 p.m. MDT, offering furs, hides, antlers, and more with buyers previewing photos online and picking up items at the Clearwater Regional Office in Lewiston—appointments for pickup must be scheduled 24 hours ahead.  Dailyfly
  • The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced the North Fork Trail at Dworshak Dam will close for heavy equipment maintenance from April 21 to May 16—limiting public access Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The trail will reopen after 4:30 p.m. on weekdays and remain open on weekends, while the Dworshak Dam Visitor Center operates Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Dailyfly

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Clarkston VFW will host two classes on traumatic brain injury and veteran suicide awareness this Friday, April 4th; the first session will run from 9 to 11 a.m. (829 15th Street) and the L.E.A.R.N session will run from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. for veterans, first responders, and caregivers. The classes are led by the Northeast Washington Family Counseling Center and adapted by Forefront and the University of Washington, and a free lunch (for all participants) will be offered.  KLEW

SPORTS NEWS

  • Lewis-Clark State Women’s Basketball will host two youth camps and two team events this summer at the P1FCU Activity Center—youth camps are set for June 16—19 for girls in grades 1—5 at $100 and June 23—26 for girls in grades 6—12 at $150 while high school teams will compete in a Summer League on June 10, 17, and 24 and in a tournament on June 20—22 at $425 per team. Registration is required for all events and proceeds will go to the Warrior Women’s Basketball program.  Big Country News
