Local law enforcement officers from the Lewiston Police Department — along with Nez Perce Tribal Police and Nez Perce County deputies — will bag groceries and collect donations at the Lewiston Grocery Outlet on Thain Road from 4 to 7 p.m. on April 14, and proceeds will benefit Special Olympics Idaho athletes.
🎓 Education
Lewis-Clark State College honored nine faculty and staff members with awards at its Employee Recognition Ceremony on April 3rd at the Williams Conference Center (administrators announced winners for categories such as outstanding teaching and excellence) and celebrated retirees and those earning emeritus status (recognitions highlighted long service and contributions).
The Lewiston City Library is hosting a free three-part writing workshop series taught by Lewis-Clark State College English professors on Tuesday evenings at 5 p.m. starting April 15, with sessions focused on writing poetry, novels, and nonfiction narrative — attendees should bring a writing instrument and paper.
Three students from Lewis-Clark State College placed second in an online case study competition and will receive $800 along with internships after finishing just 0.75 points behind the winning team from Chaminade University of Hawaii—marking LC State’s first year in the event.
Officials announced the results last Tuesday during a virtual awards ceremony attended by teams from 20 schools.

The Nez Perce County Sheriff's Office reminds Lewiston residents to follow OHV rules on local roads—using a DOT-approved helmet if under 18, having a valid driver’s license and liability insurance, proper vehicle plates, and noise control features—and to check local rules before riding. The office will hold an OHV safety course on May 17 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Souvenir shirts for the 2025 Avista NAIA World Series are on sale in Lewiston; orders for both group and individual purchases will be accepted until April 18.
Orders placed before that date will be ready for pick up the week of April 28—adult sizes cost $20 for small to XL, larger sizes are $25 and youth sizes cost $18 with a 20% discount for orders of 10 or more.
Lewiston High School head football coach Matt Pancheri announced his resignation on Facebook after eight years leading the Bengal Football program—he said his decision came after careful thought and prayer and thanked the school community as he works on a smooth transition for the team. His announcement marks the end of his tenure while efforts for a new coach continue.
On Wednesday, Lewis-Clark State trailed 4 to 1 until it scored 10 unanswered runs for an 11 to 4 win over Whitman — a game in which the team used nine pitchers, setting a new single-game record.
Ike George got four hits while Charlie Updegrave and Jack Sheward helped drive the comeback with key runs.
