EDUCATION NEWS

  • Lewis-Clark State College may soon become Lewis-Clark State University as the board will meet this week to discuss the change. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Idaho governor Brad Little — who backs the Make America Healthy Again effort — signed House Bill 109 banning SNAP purchases of candy and soda today, and the law will take effect on July 1 once a USDA waiver is secured. Some legislators expressed concerns about the impact on small grocery stores and debated what counts as candy and soda.  KLEW
  • The governor signed a bill that now lets drugstores sell ivermectin over the counter. Lawmakers pushed the bill without input from health experts—drugstores still cannot sell it without an FDA label.  KLEW
  • The City of Lewiston has contracted with Kenaston, Leone and Keeble Group, LLC (KLK) to replace the downtown water transmission main along 3rd Street and D Street starting the week of April 21 and finishing by June. The project will run Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and will reduce lanes on D Street, close 3rd Street and limit parking as it uses ARPA funds before 2026.  Big Country News
