- ➤ The Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival returns next week from Wednesday, Apr. 22 through Saturday, Apr. 25 with four days of performances, workshops, competitions and big-band shows (tickets and volunteer roles remain available). KLEW

- ➤ Garfield County Public Health is converting a former funeral home in Pomeroy into a licensed child care center. The nonprofit project is backed by a $2 million state grant and will open next summer to support local families. Lewiston Tribune

- ➤ A proposed ballot initiative to legalize medical cannabis has gathered over 100,000 signatures, moving it closer to qualifying for the November ballot as backers work to meet statewide district requirements by April 30. KLEW
- ➤ Idaho declared an emergency drought statewide after record-low snowpack followed a warm winter and spring. The water department said the declaration will allow revised water policies and seek federal assistance. KLEW
