GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Bonneville Power Administration is considering joining a larger energy market today to secure reliable power and could raise costs by $79–$129 million for customers in 2026—critics say an alternative market would better protect salmon and tribal rights, with a formal decision expected in May.  Dailyfly
  • The State of Idaho and the U.S. Department of Energy reached a targeted waiver of the 1995 Settlement Agreement that lets nuclear energy research move forward at the Idaho National Laboratory. The waiver supports studies on high burnup nuclear fuel casks for extended spent fuel storage across 54 plants in 28 states—and it will help keep university research reactors operational for training future nuclear scientists.  KHQ
