  • The first Lewiston Food Truck Night of the season will take place tomorrow from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Nez Perce County Fairgrounds—attendees can bring lawn chairs to enjoy a variety of food options and live music.  KLEW

  • AAA forecasts 45.1 million Americans, including 274,000 Idahoans, will travel for Memorial Day weekend with 1.4 million more trips than last year. The agency urges Idaho drivers to inspect their vehicles and drive during off-peak hours to avoid delays—plans that may lead to heavy road use.  Dailyfly

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Students from Sacajawea Middle School and Lewiston High School competed at the 2025 Business Professionals of America National Leadership Conference in Orlando from May 7-11. Sacajawea made history as Idaho’s first middle school chapter at the national level—Sydney Bagley and Hayden Smith earned high placements while Lewiston High School and University of Idaho alumni also received awards.  KLEW
  • On Monday, Lewis-Clark State College held a commencement ceremony at Idaho Correctional Institution—Orofino for 15 prison education program graduates, with 30 family members and staff present. The event awarded seven associate degrees and eight business essentials certificates and is part of a program now serving about 165 incarcerated students.  Dailyfly

  • Nez Perce County officials remind voters that early voting will close at 5:00 p.m. on May 16 & ballots must be received by 8:00 p.m. on May 20 for the City Election with early voting available at the Auditor Recorder’s Office at 1230 Main Street.  Dailyfly

Brad Little said Monday that $400M in tax cuts passed the legislative session and he remained concerned about future revenue while keeping a $200M reserve — he signed a school choice law offering tax credits for 2025 expenses. He planned a trip to Washington, D.C. later this week to defend Idaho’s Medicaid and SNAP programs against federal cuts — signaling caution amid looming economic challenges.  Big Country News
