- ➤ Today, the U.S. Forest Service advises hikers at Scotchman Peak to keep a safe distance from mountain goats — gusty winds from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. may blow down tree limbs and cause brief power outages in Lewiston. KHQ

- ➤ University of Idaho physics professor Matthew Hedman helped show that Uranus’ μ ring is mainly water ice (data came from Hubble, James Webb, and Keck). Researchers have secured additional James Webb time to study the rings annually for the next five years. Dailyfly

- ➤ The U.S. Forest Service reminded hikers in the Panhandle National Forests to give mountain goats plenty of space for safety. A wind advisory is in effect today from 5 AM to 11 PM PDT with gusts up to 55 mph that could move unsecured objects. KHQ
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Lewiston Police Department held a memorial ceremony Tuesday morning at the Memorial Plaza to honor five officers who died in the line of duty during National Police Week. Police Chief Jason Kuzik led the tribute as part of the annual observance. KLEW

- ➤ TriState Health will host a free skin cancer awareness class Tuesday, May 19 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Clearwater Conference Room inside Evergreen Estates (1215 Evergreen Court) in Clarkston; Carol Chandler from TriState Dermatology will cover skin checks and prevention while RSVPs are required due to limited seating.
