CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Trevor J. Lunney, 39, from Clarkston was sentenced to 60 months in federal prison—as well as three years of supervised release—after threatening his attorney and a prosecutor and planning mass violence that included a school shooting and an attack at a county fair. Dailyfly
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Lewis-Clark State College celebrated 15 prison education program graduates at Idaho Correctional Institution in Orofino Monday. Seven students earned an associate degree + eight received a business essentials certificate as college officials, faculty, and 30 family members attended the ceremony. KLEW
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Monday, officers and their K9 partners from Lewiston, Moscow, Lewis County, and Idaho County gathered at Asotin County Fire District #1 Station to test narcotics detection and improve handler skills—officials said the training at the new facility enhanced public safety practice. KLEW
- ➤ Montana Rep Ryan Zinke and New Mexico Rep Gabe Vasquez launched a bipartisan Public Lands Caucus last week to conserve public lands and expand access for all. Idaho Rep Mike Simpson joined as vice-chair to support the group’s goal of opposing proposals to sell federal land for development. Dailyfly
- ➤ At a Monday night work session, the Lewiston City Council discussed a proposal to raise salaries by adopting a five-step scale based on tenure (council members’ pay would increase from $700 to $720 monthly starting January and to $745 two years later while the mayor's salary would rise from $80,000 to $106,300). Chair Bob Blakey recommended a 1.5 percent raise plus a cost-of-living adjustment every two years, and the council will revisit the issue in an upcoming meeting. KLEW

- ➤ LC State Men's Golf senior Alex Navarro — a native of Spain — was named NAIA PING All-West Region by the GCAA after a spring season in which he won two tournaments and earned All-Cascade Conference honors. He posted a 69.7 scoring average, won both The Warrior Spring Classic and the SOU Spring Invite, and finished as runner-up at the Cascade Conference Championships. Dailyfly
