EDUCATION NEWS

  • Idaho colleges and universities can apply for exemptions on summer classes required to include DEI content that might conflict with the new law, which goes into effect on July 1. Schools must apply by June 6 if they lack an alternative course to meet degree requirements — the State Board’s memo outlines a process to adjust summer schedules.  Dailyfly
  • The Lewiston Independent School District has named Angela Baldus as the new Assistant Superintendent for the 2025-2026 school year—she will begin her role on July 1 and brings years of experience in school leadership.  KLEW

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare faced $49M in federal grant cuts that reduced funding for children’s vaccines by over $29M — and the reductions also affected mental health and substance use prevention programs. An executive order signed on February 18 disclosed the cuts that have since weakened key public health resources.  KHQ

  • Idaho Fish and Game released a list of top fishing spots that regularly produce trophy-sized fish — Lake Pend Oreille offers record rainbow trout and Clearwater River yields big Chinook salmon.
