The Lewiston School District announced its winners of the Educational Support Personnel of the Year awards.
Tasha Carper of Centennial Elementary School received the overall award, Marjorie Blackwill of McSorley Elementary earned the Direct ESP award, & Kelli Hall, the district curriculum secretary, won the Indirect ESP award.
The Idaho Transportation Department warns motorists to plan alternate routes on US-95 between Moscow and Lewiston near the Thorn Creek and Uniontown Cutoff since flaggers will stop traffic to install large bridge girders.
They will work from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. next Wednesday and Thursday, May 28-29.
The City of Lewiston announced that Bryden Canyon Road (from 4th Street to Snake River Avenue) will be closed nightly from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. from June 1 until June 13 for maintenance.
Crews will work during those hours (to safely clean and inspect the stormwater system) to ensure proper function.
Idaho drivers are urged to drive carefully as the 100 Deadliest Days approach after 74 crash fatalities were recorded by May 12, with the Transportation Department and Highway Safety Office warning that rural roads are especially dangerous—emergency response times can be longer.
The American Red Cross said it will close its Lewiston blood donation center on August 2 because it has struggled with high costs and low donations—donors are encouraged to give at mobile drives to help supply hospitals.
After nearly 30 years of service, the Lewiston donation center will close on August 2 because it did not collect blood in a cost-effective way—collected blood had to be sent to Salt Lake City for testing.
The Red Cross will continue mobile blood drives in Lewiston, staffed by Northwest personnel—making donation easier for local residents.
Lewiston High School announced the hiring of two new head coaches when Zane Hobart was named football coach from Kendrick High School and Brady Bagby took charge of girls’ basketball—both began working with their teams immediately and will prepare for upcoming seasons.
