  • At the NAIA World Series on Sixth Street, local food trucks served tasty dishes to fans and players, with pitcher Raul Herrada trying baked mac+cheese from the Happy Day Home Plate truck. Owners from The Spud Shack and Billy's Shaved Ice said they had strong sales during the busy event.  KLEW

CRIME NEWS

  • Keegan C. Brown, 19, of Clarkston—held on a felony stalking charge after being arrested last month in Juliaetta—is now facing an added felony charge for allegedly damaging a sprinkler in his jail cell on Saturday; the broken system triggered an alarm that was quickly fixed.  Dailyfly

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, the Idaho Department of Corrections paused all execution-related procedures to build a firing squad chamber. House Bill 37 — which makes firing squad the main method of execution starting July 1 — means the retrofit will take six to nine months.  KLEW
  • Earlier this month, Gov. Brad Little defended Idaho’s efficient SNAP program, noting that a bill in Congress may add at least $18M in costs starting in 2028 — a move that could shift more expenses to the state. The state also asked the federal government for a waiver to ban candy and soda from SNAP — a request prompted by House Bill 109.  Dailyfly
  • Nez Perce County officials announced several departments will change operations in June as they move to a new courthouse facility. The Board of County Commissioners, Emergency Management, Planning and Building and the Prosecutor’s Office will be closed June 2 to 4 and reopen on June 5, District Court will move from the old to the new courthouse on June 9–12, the Treasurer’s Office will shift on June 11–12 while staying open, and the Auditor/Recorder, Assessor and Auto License Offices will resume services on June 20.  Dailyfly
  • The Lewiston Police Department today launched the Chief's Briefing Podcast (hosted by Chief Jason Kuzik) to keep the community informed on its programs and projects. A new monthly episode (featuring discussions on the newly established Child Advocacy Center) will be released soon.  KLEW

  • Coach Katie Palmer announced on Tuesday the 2025 signing class for LC State Volleyball. The eight student-athletes, including local standout Jordynn Albright—recognized for her high school honors—will join the Warriors for the 2026 season.  Dailyfly
  • LC State Men’s Basketball announced today that 6-7 forward Jaaziel Pierce from Saint George’s School will join the Warriors in the fall. Pierce, a two-time all-league honoree from Spokane, said he believes LC State is the best fit for his growth on and off the court — coach Austin Johnson praised his versatile skills — as he looks to build on his high school success.  Dailyfly
