- ➤ Fire officials say the Hatwai Fire northeast of Lewiston grew to about 250 acres overnight but is now 50 percent contained—fire crews secured the line and started mop-up operations as the sheriff lifted evacuation orders. KLEW
- ➤ Firefighters made progress on the Hatwai Fire near Lewiston as the blaze grew to 250 acres and reached 50 percent containment, leading the Nez Perce County Sheriff to lift evacuation orders. Crews from multiple agencies worked overnight and this morning with eight engines, one water tender, and a dozer on standby — a coordinated effort — to secure the fire line along Hatwai Road as winds calmed.
