  • The Lewiston GEO Reentry Service and the Idaho Department of Corrections recently celebrated 14 probation and parole participants who completed the Connection and Intervention Station Reentry Program and learned skills to help lower their risk of re-offending.   • A motorcyclist crashed on Wawawai Road near milepost 11 around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and was severely injured, being airlifted from St. Joseph’s Hospital in Lewiston — investigators suspect speed was a factor.  KLEW
  • Whitman County deputies and EMS crews responded to a motorcycle crash on Wawawai Road near milepost 11 Tuesday evening at about 5:30 p.m.—the severely injured motorcyclist was airlifted to a Lewiston hospital and later transferred to a Spokane facility, while investigators said speed likely played a role.  Dailyfly

  • A 68-year-old Wyoming man was arrested Wednesday for stabbing his brother-in-law at the Clarkston Motel 6 on Sunday, June 2—police say he attacked shortly after 11 a.m. causing head and torso wounds—and now faces charges of attempted first-degree murder.  Dailyfly

CULTURE NEWS

  • Liberty Theater in Lewiston is being restored in three phases and the first phase fixes its famous marquee—its goal nearly reached with a $100,000 grant and donor help. Facade work will start in September and full interior renovations will follow—more fundraising events will support the project to be finished by the end of summer.  KLEW

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Idaho Department of Education announced that free meals are available for children from 1 to 18 this summer at designated sites statewide through the 2025 Summer Food Service Program—families need not show proof of income or register. The program, funded by the USDA and expected to match last year's level of service, will also offer a new Meals To Go option at select rural sites.  Dailyfly

  • Lewiston city officials ask residents and business owners for feedback after a proposed $25 million infrastructure bond fell short by 154 votes (the survey will guide future upgrades to water, sewer and stormwater systems).  KLEW
