🚨 Crime
Lori Vallow Daybell was found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder in Idaho after being convicted of killing her two children and plotting to kill her husband's late wife (she filed an appeal here), and her sentencing is scheduled for July 25 as she will be transported back to Idaho.
Andrew I. House, 29, was arrested on Tuesday and faces seven felony charges for possessing and sharing child sexual abuse material following a months-long investigation that linked Kik Messenger accounts from his Lewiston home to five videos showing children as young as six — he is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on June 25 with a bond set at $250,000.
The Latah County Sheriff's Office has warned residents about a scam that instructs people to visit the office to provide handwriting samples for FBI analysis—officials stressed that no money or gift cards would be requested and urged anyone with suspicious calls to report them.
🎓 Education
The Lewiston School District announced new leadership appointments for the upcoming school year; Linda Heckler will serve as principal at Orchards Elementary, Amanda Remacle will lead McSorley Elementary, and Ryan Wessels along with Annette Province will begin as assistant principals at Lewiston High School — positions set to take effect this fall.
🏛️ Government
The Idaho Transportation Board met on Thursday and approved funds for replacing the US-95 Spalding Bridge east of Lewiston under the TECM program—extra money from House Bill 25 will help build a new bridge with wider spans and a better highway interchange.
The project design is underway, and construction may begin as early as 2028 with public review in July before final approval in September.
