Firefighters in Asotin County responded to a grass and vegetation fire Sunday evening at about 8:15 p.m. after a resident was grinding metal near dry grass—teams contained the blaze in about two hours with no injuries and only some fences damaged.
A fatal carjacking outside Liberty Stop N Go on Stateline left the community mourning as Navy veteran Gary Hill tried to stop a suspect from carjacking a family—his brave act saved the family but cost him his life—and law enforcement agencies are investigating the shooting.
