  • On Tuesday, the Nez Perce County Citizenship Washington Focus 4-H Group placed a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery to honor Idaho 4-H – the eleven youth, led by Art King and Katie Spendlove, have spent two and a half years meeting and fundraising to learn about citizenship, history and government.  Dailyfly

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Lewiston will begin a sewer expansion project on June 23 that closes the 2100 block of Grelle Avenue from 21st to 22nd Street, with work scheduled Monday to Friday between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. The project will last about four weeks, and truck drivers are urged to follow detour routes (local access remains available) while residents may see the Lindsay Creek Road intersection partially reopen (though travel delays are expected).  Dailyfly
  • Governor Little approved up to $300K from the emergency fund to help ICE transport dangerous criminals out of Idaho jails under the ISP’s 287(g) agreement (covering up to 100 transports) and using the jail enforcement model for violent offenders who have finished their sentences. This decision follows previous emergency fund use in state police operations and key investigations.  KHQ
  • Idaho Gov. Brad Little directed state agency leaders to plan for spending holdbacks as revenue trails projections due to lower sales tax and tax cuts. Directors must submit budget requests by Aug. 29, and education officials may face holdbacks of up to 6%.  Dailyfly
