ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Firefighters from multiple departments responded Tuesday at 5pm in Clarkston to fight a large blaze that destroyed a home, garage, vehicles and outbuildings—wind pushed the flames from Elm Street to Chestnut Street in dry grass, though no injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation.  Big Country News
  • Emergency crews responded early Wednesday morning when a vehicle plunged into the Lochsa River near milepost 99.5 on US Highway 12 — just east of Lowell after a motorist rescued the driver, who was transported by ambulance with minor injuries.  Dailyfly
  • Lewiston Fire Department responded to a fire at 12:15 p.m. today at Pacific Steel and Recycling located at 604 12th St. North and quickly contained the blaze in the outdoor recycling area—no injuries were reported and damage is estimated at $5,000.  Big Country News

CRIME NEWS

  • A 37-year-old man from Orofino was arrested after a high-speed chase on a Suzuki motorcycle near Lewiston—he reached speeds over 140 mph, crashed into a patrol vehicle, admitted to recent methamphetamine use, and now faces multiple charges with a bond set at $150,000.  Dailyfly

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Nearly two dozen school districts and charter schools in Idaho have received grants for school resource officer positions from the state’s Millennium Fund—funds that will help schools like Lewiston Independent add new safety measures. The grant, managed by the Idaho Department of Education, will allow some agencies to introduce a resource officer for the first time to enhance student security.  KHQ

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A fast-moving wildfire near Evans Road threatened homes, livestock, and property Wednesday afternoon in the Lewis-Clark Valley and moved southeast toward Amity Lane. Firefighters from several agencies contained the blaze around 5:00 p.m.—crews then monitored the area until 11:00 p.m. with no reported injuries while the cause is under investigation.  Dailyfly

  • Coach Austin Johnson announced today that Lewis-Clark State Men’s Basketball will add six transfers for the 2025-26 season—student-athletes from Cerritos College, Eastern Arizona College, Colorado Northwest CC, Citrus College and Santiago Canyon College bring strong skills and varied experience to the team.  Dailyfly
  • The Inland Empire AAU Regional Karate Team from the LC Valley competed at the 2025 AAU Karate National Championships in Fort Lauderdale from July 2nd to 5th, showing strong skills in weapons, kata and sparring events. Anton Arthur—17 years old—won two national titles in sparring and got third in another event, while 12-year-old CC Subis placed second in Girls Novice Weapons and first in Girls Novice Heavyweight Sparring.  Dailyfly
