After repairs, Bert Lipps Pool in Lewiston will reopen with a free swim on Saturday, July 25 from 1 to 4 p.m. sponsored by St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.
Orchards Pool hosts sessions until Friday, July 24 plus the season runs until Aug. 15 with service resuming Monday, July 27.
🎓 Education
After a four-month survey revealed gaps in horse care, University of Idaho Extension launched equine workshops held in Burley, Rexburg, Malad, and Shoshone — and plans to bring the program to northern Idaho this fall.
Sacajawea Middle School was recognized by Solution Tree as a Model PLC at Work for showing three years of improved student achievement through educator collaboration in Lewiston, reflecting the school’s commitment to continuous progress.
🏛️ Government
Drivers in Lewiston face nightly closures on Snake River Avenue from Southway to 11th Avenue between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. due to reconstruction work, with local access maintained where possible (alternate routes are encouraged) and the closure area set to expand as the project continues.
🏥 Health
A heat advisory is in effect from 11:00 a.m. Tuesday - 9:00 p.m. Thursday for parts of North and North Central Idaho, where temperatures may reach near 100 and wildfire smoke could worsen air quality.
Residents should drink fluids and stay indoors when possible.
