🚧 Accidents
Asotin County Fire District #1 responded this week to several incidents including a two-vehicle collision on 5th Street north of the Southway Bridge where four people were taken to the hospital, a vehicle that left the road on Asotin Creek Road after a likely medical issue, and a boat that struck rocks on the Snake River — no injuries were reported in the latter incidents.
A Lewiston woman was airlifted to Kootenai Medical Center after her ATV crashed on Forest Service Road 250 in Clearwater County at approximately 2:18 p.m. on July 23 when she swerved to avoid hitting an animal—authorities say the incident remains under investigation.

Idaho State Police investigated a case where a motorcyclist fled on foot after officers attempted to stop his red Honda CM400 on July 23 at about 10:23 a.m.—the rider abandoned his bike near the Hubbard Gulch and Stoney Point intersection and was last seen running into nearby farm fields.
AAA warned Idaho residents to be cautious of texts and calls claiming unpaid tickets or urgent legal issues that ask for credit card or banking details, noting official notices come by mail — and urging people to check their financial statements and report suspicious activity to banks and law enforcement.
Idaho State Police ask for the public's help after a rider on a red Honda CM400 fled a traffic stop on July 23 at 10:23 a.m. on U.S. Highway 12 by turning onto Hubbard Gulch Road+ abandoning his bike near Stoney Point roads before running east into nearby farm fields.
Moscow police have begun releasing case files on the investigation following Bryan Kohberger's four life sentences for murdering four University of Idaho students—files that include a surviving roommate's account of an unknown man watching her and a coworker's note on his unusual interest in police scanners on November 13.
🏛️ Government
The Lewiston Public Works Department will begin a wastewater project near the intersection of 16th Avenue and 16th Street on Monday, July 28th to fix an old sanitary sewer main.
Traffic lanes from 13th Street to 17th Street will narrow every weekday from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.—and some access points in the work zone will close temporarily.
🏈 Sports
Lewis-Clark State Women’s Basketball was honored by the WBCA after finishing the school year with a 3.647 GPA and ranking 15th nationally—four players earned a perfect 4.0 in spring and the team led the Cascade Conference.
LC State's Warrior Tennis teams earned 18 ITA Scholar-Athlete nods and All-Academic Team honors for the 2024-25 school year as the women finished with a 3.48 GPA and the men with a 3.62 GPA, showing their strong balance of academics and athletics.
