CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Idaho State Police in Nez Perce County tried to stop a Honda CM-400 on U.S. Highway 12 (10:20 a.m.) Wednesday but the rider abandoned the motorcycle and fled on foot (heading east into farm fields), and police ask anyone with information to call them. Big Country News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ According to U.S. Census data, Idaho welcomed over 100,000 new residents since 2020 and currently has just over 2 million people. Economist Sam Wolkenhauer said the state’s population will reach 2.4 million by 2034 (with most growth in urban counties), reflecting its top-10 ranking for domestic net migration. Big Country News
- ➤ The City of Lewiston Public Works will begin a wastewater rehabilitation project near 16th Avenue and 16th Street on Monday, July 28 to repair a sanitary sewer main, with work expected to last about three weeks. Traffic will slow as lanes narrow between 13th and 17th Streets—and some access points are temporarily closed. Dailyfly
