The DeAtley Family Foundation announced its 2025 grants today, awarding over $350,000 to ten local nonprofits—ranging from an animal shelter to the LC Amateur Hockey Association—to support key community services in the Lewis-Clark Valley.

The foundation said the awards will bolster vital programs and that future funding opportunities will be available for eligible organizations.

Fuel prices in Idaho rose as summer travel continues.

AAA said the average cost per gallon is now $3.53 — up five cents overnight and 11 cents higher than one month ago, with Lewiston fueling at $3.29.

The University of Idaho’s INBRE program marked 25 years of biomedical research and education—offering hands-on opportunities for nearly 6,000 undergraduates and many graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty from 12 institutions.

Gov. Brad Little signed a proclamation declaring August as INBRE Month, and the program has secured over $100 million in NIH funding.

Residents of Nez Perce County are invited to a public open house on August 20 at the Lewiston City Library (411 D Street) from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. to learn about new flood maps updated by FEMA and local officials that will show changes in flood risk and guide flood insurance decisions.
