- ➤ On August 9 at 6:44 a.m., the Lewiston Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at 1521 Warner Avenue where crews encountered heavy smoke and flames, quickly knocked down the fire in about 20 minutes—firefighters then spent 90 minutes on scene checking that no injuries occurred and damage is estimated at $550,000. - ➤ On Friday night, the Lewiston Fire Department responded at 10 p.m. to a grass fire in the 1600 block of 8th Avenue Boulevard, extinguishing a 40-by-60-foot blaze on a hillside within 10 minutes—crews stayed an extra 10 minutes to check for hotspots as investigators work to determine the cause. - ➤ Imports through the Seattle and Tacoma ports have dropped and businesses across Washington are concerned about future challenges—this adds to local news.
