ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ The Latah County Sheriff’s Office issued a Level 3 evacuation order for the Lamb Fire near Troy, which has spread to about 50 acres and now affects 63 homes on Driscoll Ridge Road and Lamb Road—deputies are going door to door and urging residents to leave immediately so firefighters can work safely. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ An 18-year-old from Clarkston has been charged with felony malicious injury to property after he allegedly damaged a business's front door on August 9th, causing about $5,000 in damage — he is set to appear in court on Monday afternoon. Dailyfly
- ➤ A 48 year old man was arrested at Chief Timothy Park on Aug. 8 at 8:20 p.m. and charged with burglary, theft, possession of stolen property and unlawful firearm possession after deputies recovered a 45 caliber handgun wrapped in a shirt and stolen items linked to a Clarkston burglary—bond was set at $20,000. - ➤ A Clarkston woman, identified as Eliza Hernandez, was found dead in a suspected murder-suicide on Saturday night—she left two young children now cared for by their great-grandparents facing rising expenses for burial and care. KLEW
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ AAA said Idaho drivers now pay an average of $3.53 per gallon for regular gas—up six cents from last week and last month but eight cents lower than this time last year. - ➤ Howard Rynearson, the Payette County GOP committee chairman, is leading an effort to gather over 70,000 signatures from voters to place a ballot initiative on the November ballot that would repeal Idaho’s 6% grocery tax and cancel the related tax credit—if passed, the tax will still apply to alcohol, tobacco and restaurant meals. - ➤ LC State Men’s Cross Country/Track and Field has added Michael Colvin, Bryan Kinene, Micah Fox and Christian Lybyer to its roster for the 2025-26 season. Lewiston native Lybyer will run on the cross country team this fall — while Colvin, Fox and Kinene help boost track events. Dailyfly
