Lewis Clark Animal Shelter has relaunched its Community Spay/Neuter Clinic to help local pet owners spay and neuter their pets and reduce unwanted animals in the community — check the clinic's veterinary services page for scheduling details.
🎓 Education
University of Idaho and USDA launched a free online nitrogen calculator designed to help Idaho farmers decide how much fertilizer to apply on barley and sugar beet.
The tool, available since early July & set to be updated through February, gives growers key data for smarter fertilizer choices.
🏛️ Government
The City of Lewiston contracted with McCall’s Classic Construction to upgrade the sidewalk between Thain Road and 14th Street with 5′ wide concrete sidewalks, curb & gutter installations and pedestrian ramps.
Construction starts Aug. 17 and will take two months, with eastbound lanes closed until Sept. 19 & reopened temporarily until Sept. 27 during the county fair.
🏥 Health
A study found that Idaho lost 94 OBGYN doctors from 2022 through Dec.
2024, while state officials & a pro-life group say license data show no decline, fuelling debate among local health providers.
TriState Health, a nonprofit in Clarkston, earned a 5-star cleanliness rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services based on patient surveys from July 2024 to June 2025; it is one of seven Washington hospitals to receive this rating.
