On Monday, fire crews from Lewiston, Clarkston, and Asotin quickly responded to a fast-moving blaze in Clarkston that destroyed two RVs at an RV park on Bridge Street while temperatures rose above 100 degrees—owners escaped without injury.
🚨 Crime
On Aug 12th, Idaho State Police stopped a reckless driver near Lewiston with a PIT maneuver because the SUV drove into oncoming traffic & the driver was arrested on charges of DUI, eluding, concealing a firearm while intoxicated and having an open container.
🎓 Education
The Independent School District No. 1 board set its biennial election for November 4 to fill two at-large seats during its August 11 meeting.
The election is administered by Nez Perce County—candidates can file forms from August 18 to 29.
🏛️ Government
The Lewiston Fire Department honored seven firefighters during a badge pinning ceremony held at the Lewiston City Council meeting on August 11 — recognizing four reserve firefighters and three full-time firefighters who earned paramedic certification.
The department noted the training and education of these members helped save the city over $2 million annually.
