Lewiston NAPA is hosting its 16th annual Poker Run on Wednesday, Aug.
19 at Hereth Park — registration starts at 5 p.m. and the run begins at 6 p.m. — with proceeds benefiting the Lewis Clark Animal Shelter.
On Saturday, August 22 at 11:00 a.m., Happy Day Restaurants, Main Street Grill and the Boys & Girls Clubs will try to set a new world record by lining up 1,350 footlong cheesesteaks at 7th and Main — a local event using fresh ingredients to benefit youth; tickets cost $10.
🌲 Environment
A wildfire burned near mile marker 423 on U.S.-12 in Asotin County early Wednesday as strong winds drove flames toward Westlake Drive, prompting a Level 3 evacuation order.
Additional fire crews and aircraft arrived on Wednesday after state mobilization was approved Tuesday evening; there were no injuries or structure losses.

The Idaho Transportation Department closed U.S. Highway 12 between mileposts 49 and 51 near Greer due to wildfire activity.
Travelers should use alternate routes+check Idaho 511 for updates until the highway reopens safely.
