- ➤ Residents on the Nez Perce Reservation are told to take precautions as wildfire smoke sets air quality to unhealthy levels. The Nez Perce Tribe’s Environmental Resource and Waste Management Air Quality Program said an advisory that began August 22 will last until 9 a.m. Monday—children, elders, and others at risk should remain indoors. - ➤ The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced that six recreation areas along the lower Snake River — including Lewiston Levee Parkway near the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center — will reopen for fall use in late August and September after earlier closures due to staffing issues.
