  • Today the 91st Annual Lewiston Roundup, themed 'She's Wild and Fun at 91!', begins and runs through September 6 with gates opening daily at 4:59 p.m. and rodeo shows starting at 6:59 p.m.—the schedule includes Xtreme Bulls today, Family Night PRCA Rodeo on September 4, Tough Enough to Wear Pink and a women-focused rodeo clinic on September 5 to support breast cancer patients—and a parade on Saturday with Grand Marshal Stephen Cravens.  Dailyfly

CULTURE NEWS

  • Lewis-Clark State College’s drama club will present a free preview performance of the new play Third Person at Silverthorne Theatre on Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. The play, written by Catherine Filloux and directed by Lane Richins, follows three characters—Octavio, his mother Diane, and CEO Robert—and will have its world premiere at CultureHub in New York City on Sept. 20.  Big Country News

  • The Port of Lewiston began construction on a 92-mile broadband backbone to deliver reliable high-speed internet to underserved areas in North Central Idaho — Crown Utilities is installing fiber from Moscow to Lewiston with plans to extend the network to Grangeville using federal grants, an Idaho Broadband Advisory Board grant and Port funds. This project will help bridge the digital gap and spur local economic development.  KLEW
  • The Idaho Public Utilities Commission approved a settlement on Aug. 29 that will change Avista’s electric and natural gas rates in northern Idaho; residential electric bills will rise by about 6.7% effective Sept. 1 and natural gas bills by roughly 6.8%, with additional electric rate increases set for Sept. 1, 2026 — customers should expect higher monthly payments.  Big Country News

  • LC State Volleyball head coach Katie Palmer announced the launch of The NETWORK, an annual giving program to support student-athletes by supplementing the operating budget and offering exclusive donor benefits. The program will host its first event, the First Serve BBQ, on Sept. 12 at 5:30 p.m. inside the P1FCU Activity Center — donations will help improve team experiences.  Dailyfly
  • Idaho Fish and Game released key September dates for sportsmen as several hunting and fishing seasons opened on September 1 and controlled tag sales will occur on September 18 at 10 a.m. MDT. Chronic Wasting Disease Awareness Week is set for September 15—21 and additional hunts will start on September 20 while a Youth, Veterans, and Active Military Waterfowl Hunting Weekend is scheduled for September 27—28.  Dailyfly
  • Shay Wyatt, candidate for LC State’s athletic director, visited on August 29 and spoke about his record at Westminster and his plans to boost student-athlete growth—he said his ties with NAIA will help improve community events.
