CRIME NEWS

  • A bomb threat disrupted operations at the Nez Perce County Courthouse at about 10:35 a.m. on Thursday—law enforcement evacuated the building, searched for explosives, and resumed operations at 11:35 a.m.  KLEW

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Lewiston has announced a temporary road closure on 10th Street between Thain Road and Bryden Avenue on September 10 from 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.—crews will perform essential roadway maintenance and drivers should expect detours.  Dailyfly
  • Nez Perce Tribal Chairman Shannon F. Wheeler testified on Wednesday before the House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Water, Wildlife, and Fisheries to urge Congress to reject H.R.2073—the Defending Our Dams Act—as it would block studies of alternatives for the four lower Snake River dams. He said the act would harm wild salmon and steelhead habitats and that the Columbia Basin Restoration Initiative offers a better plan to protect fish and treaty rights.  Dailyfly
