CRIME NEWS

  • A 13-year-old teen who escaped custody from the Asotin County Courthouse at about 2:30 p.m. on Monday was located in Clarkston by deputies with help from police and is now held at the Juvenile Detention Center.  Dailyfly

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Lewis-Clark State College was named Idaho’s Best Value college by Niche when the ranking was released on September 9—based on millions of reviews and government data. The school is noted for its low tuition and strong student success rates.  Dailyfly
  • Lewiston High School eliminated pay-to-play fees for athletes this week—reducing extra costs for families, and Superintendent Tim Sperber said that community support from local businesses and donors will help cover any lost revenue.  KLEW

SPORTS NEWS

  • Jim Klemann was named the new athletic director at Lewis-Clark State College and will join on Oct. 1. He led Rocky Mountain College’s athletics and will manage 14 NAIA sports programs—he is expected to oversee events like the Avista NAIA World Series.  Big Country News
  • Karissa Lindner, a junior at LC State Volleyball, was named NAIA Volleyball Defender of the Week after setting a record with 15 blocks against No. 19 Southern Oregon on Friday—she is the first player from her team to win a national weekly award since 2018.  Dailyfly
