ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The Idaho Office of Highway Safety reported that during the 100 Deadliest Days, 88 people died in traffic crashes — 60 in vehicle collisions and 23 who were not wearing seatbelts — as the Idaho Transportation Department began new outreach and enforcement programs to improve road safety.  KHQ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Lewis-Clark State College will host three events to welcome its new athletic director Jim Klemann. The college will hold a drop-in event on Oct. 1 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the P1FCU Activity Center in Lewiston — a second event is set for Oct. 8 in Coeur d’Alene and a meet and greet will be planned later in the fall.  Dailyfly
  • Lewis-Clark State College will host free welcome events for new Athletic Director Jim Klemann, including one on Oct. 1 at the P1FCU Activity Center and another on Oct. 8 at Sweet Lou’s in Coeur d'Alene. A meet and greet with Treasure Valley alumni will be held later this fall—appetizers and a free first drink are offered at the earlier events.  Big Country News
  • The Clarkston School District announced plans to open a School-Based Health Center to support student health and well-being and is seeking proposals from health care groups to offer preventive and primary care. Proposals are due by Friday, October 17th at 4:00 p.m.—the center will help serve students better.  Dailyfly

  • Jennifer Simpson, a Registered Nurse in the Family Beginnings department at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, has been honored with the prestigious DAISY Award for her compassionate care—nominated by a mother during a difficult time.  KLEW

SPORTS NEWS

  • LC State Volleyball is ranked No. 17 in the NAIA Top 25 today after starting the season 7-0 and upsetting opponents including Southern Oregon. The team earned its highest ranking since 2012 and is one of three undefeated teams in the poll — strong stats in blocks and kills have boosted its performance.  Dailyfly
