EDUCATION NEWS

  • University of Idaho Extension will host a free virtual workshop on farm succession planning for current landowners and incoming producers, with sessions on values and financial assessments scheduled on Wednesday, October 1 and Friday, October 3 from 12:00 – 1:30 pm PT led by Colette DePhelps — the sessions will be recorded for registrants.  Dailyfly
  • Clarkston High School DECA is partnering with Joe Hall Ford on the 'Drive 4 UR School' fundraiser on Sunday, October 5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Joe Hall Ford at 1617 21st Street in Lewiston—each completed test drive will earn $30 for the school.  Dailyfly
  • The State Board of Education approved exemptions for 20 fall college programs under Idaho's anti-DEI law and granted 11 summer exemptions because colleges offer more fall classes than summer. The board said schools in fields like counseling and social work are reviewing degree requirements and that exemptions may drop as new course options replace the banned courses.  Dailyfly
  • Clarkston DECA is partnering with Joe Hall Ford—hosting the Drive 4 UR School event at 1617 21st St in Lewiston from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 5th to raise funds for student career skill building as each completed test drive donates $30 to the chapter.  Big Country News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Nez Perce County began mailing absentee ballots to registered voters ahead of the November 4 election, and Lewiston residents may request a ballot by mail, online at VoteIdaho.gov, or in person at the Auditor Recorder’s Office (1230 Main Street in Lewiston). The deadline for mail requests is 5:00 p.m. on October 24 and completed ballots must be returned by Election Day.  Dailyfly
