  • A new Halloween event guide for October offers many family-friendly activities in Lewiston—such as the 3rd Annual Hometown T1D Fall Festival at the Nez Perce County Fairgrounds and a daily pumpkin patch at 2200 8th Ave—with dates, times, and fees provided to help residents plan their celebrations.   • IDL firefighter Isabella Oscarson died Friday after a falling tree struck her while she was working on a prescribed fire at the Nez Perce—Clearwater National Forests and was flown to Grangeville for treatment.  KLEW

ECONOMY NEWS

  • AAA said Idaho drivers saw relief as regular gasoline prices dropped three cents to $3.49 per gallon today, with Lewiston prices at $3.46 — a penny higher than a month ago but unchanged from last year. Winter-blend gasoline may lower prices further if refinery maintenance and repairs do not slow supply.  Dailyfly

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • In October, Idaho Fish and Game hatchery crews will stock thousands of rainbow trout in lakes, reservoirs, and ponds across the Clearwater Region as part of a statewide release of over 300,000 trout—Winchester Lake will receive 12,000 trout and Lewiston’s Kiwanis Park Pond 900 trout to boost local fishing opportunities.  Dailyfly

  • Residents from Moscow, Pullman, Lewiston, and Clarkston took part last weekend in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s — a fundraiser that raised 58% of a $25,000 goal — while vendors provided support and a promise garden ceremony featured four color flowers to honor those lost.  KLEW
  • Idaho residents can get updated COVID and flu vaccines at local pharmacies and doctor offices—health plans will cover the shots through the end of 2025. Experts say people should check with their providers about vaccine eligibility and timing.  Dailyfly
  • Research by the Georgetown University Center for Children and Families shows that uninsured Idaho children rose from 6% to 8.1% between 2022 and 2024. Policy associate Ivy Walker said nearly 50,000 kids lost health coverage during the Medicaid unwinding in 2023—most lost coverage because paperwork was missed and a provider shortage made care harder to get.  Dailyfly
  • Idaho officials urge Medicare enrollees to check their coverage as open enrollment—starting Oct. 15 and ending Dec. 7—brings changes from insurers reducing benefits or withdrawing Medicare Advantage plans.   • Lewis-Clark State student-athletes Damaris Kibiwot and Dallis Shockey earned Cascade Conference awards on Monday—Kibiwot improved her time at the Bill Roe Invitational to finish 15th among 96 runners while Shockey posted her first collegiate under-par round at the Kalispel Invitational.
