- ➤ Michelle King, president of LC Valley Youth Resource Center, said the center is expanding its services to help young adults by creating transitional housing called The Village – with 12 cottages – where residents will learn important adulting skills until they turn 21. King thanked city, county, and federal leaders for their support and said the project will soon start serving youth in the valley. KLEW

- ➤ Washington State Poet Laureate Derek Sheffield will deliver the 44th annual Stegner Lecture at the Lewiston City Library at 7 p.m. on Oct. 17—his talk 'In Whose Presence: On the Nature and Language of Place and Poetry' will be free and open to the public. Dailyfly

- ➤ A new website has been launched for the Idaho Parental Choice Tax Credit Program that offers parents a simple checklist to see if they qualify—helping them quickly determine their eligibility. KHQ
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A hunter aged 55 was rescued by the Idaho Air National Guard in Idaho County on Oct. 1 after a medical emergency and adverse weather left him unable to walk or ride his horse back to camp—he is now being flown to the hospital for further care. KLEW
