Idaho State Department of Agriculture staff and contractors are using a copper-based chemical called Natrix to treat a 3.5-mile section of the Snake River near Shoshone Falls — the project costs about $3 million to fight invasive quagga mussels.
Officials take water samples daily and will monitor the treatment for five more years.

The Idaho Department of Fish and Game reminds hunters, anglers, and trappers in Lewiston to stop at all check stations—regardless of a harvest—so staff can inspect licenses, tags, and collect samples for chronic wasting disease testing, with citations possible for noncompliance.
