Clearwater Paper Corp reported a Q3 net loss of $53 million on Tuesday—$45 million of which came from a goodwill charge—while net sales reached $399 million and shipments rose 3%, and its Lewiston mill had a planned $24 million maintenance outage; the company expects to save nearly $50 million in fixed costs in 2025.

At a Statehouse hearing on Oct 27, University of Washington lobbyist Luke Malek warned that reducing state-subsidized med school seats from 40 to 30 would deal a fatal blow to WWAMI — which has served Idaho students since 1972.
