- ➤ Following a windstorm that toppled trees and left roughly 71,600 customers without power Wednesday morning, Avista crews assessed damage and restored service in the region—customers are advised to stay safe around fallen power lines. Big Country News

- ➤ The Idaho Division of Aeronautics has opened the 2026 Aviation Art Contest, inviting Idaho students ages 5 to 18 to submit artwork themed "Around the World in a Plane." Winners in five age groups will earn prizes including an airplane ride + art supplies; entries will close March 31. Dailyfly

- ➤ The Lewiston Post Office is open for business again after a temporary closure; its website shows hours starting at 7:30 a.m. for residents to send mail. KLEW
- ➤ All lanes on U.S. Highway 12 near Arrow Bridge will close tomorrow at noon for controlled rock scaling. Crews will remove unstable rock from the slope and traffic will detour along alternate state routes + drivers should allow extra time. Big Country News
- ➤ Idaho’s board of library commissioners appointed Dylan Baker as the new state librarian on Oct. 16; he will begin his role on Dec. 22 to lead the Commission for Libraries that supports 850+ libraries statewide. Big Country News
- ➤ City of Lewiston announced holiday waste collection will change by shifting Thursday routes to Friday and Friday to Saturday during Christmas and New Year weeks. Lewiston Transfer Station and Clearwater Composting have modified hours on Dec.24-25 and Dec.31-Jan.1, and extra trash pickup is free from Dec.26 to Jan.2. Dailyfly
