- ➤ Firefighters in Garfield County are battling the Clayton Road Fire that began July 28 at 4:45 a.m. and burned about 200 acres near Clarkston, while state resources (activated at Level 2 from Camp Murray) are helping contain the blaze as investigators probe its cause. KLEW

- ➤ A 47-year-old woman was arrested in Clarkston for possessing a stolen red 2006 Chevy Matrix that was reported taken from a relative in Orofino after officers found her near the vehicle in an alley off 9th Street and she was booked into the Asotin County Jail — she said she believed she had permission but the owner denied it.
