- ➤ On Tuesday, Idaho State Police began investigating a fatal crash on Highway 12 near milepost 17.5 — a Subaru Forester carrying two elderly Peck residents crossed the center line and struck a Ford Bronco driven by a 55-year-old Lewiston woman, resulting in one death, a serious injury, and a four-hour highway closure after a fire started. - ➤ Idaho State Police said a head-on crash on U.S. Highway 12 near milepost 17.5, about 14 miles east of Lewiston, killed an 80-year-old Subaru driver and injured his passenger and a 55-year-old Ford Bronco driver on Tuesday at 4:11 p.m.—the crash blocked the highway for four hours as responders cleared the scene. - ➤ Lewis-Clark State College has invited three candidates to campus from Aug. 26 to Aug. 29 to interview for the athletic director role — each visit will include a presentation at 4 p.m. and a meet and greet with light hors d'oeuvres at Williams Conference Center. - ➤ The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced that the Dworshak Dam Visitor Center will operate seasonally and is now open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with no public tours offered and a call for boaters to inspect and return their life jackets before the off-season—safety remains the priority as summer recreation winds down. - ➤ On Tuesday, U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Scott Turner met with Senator Crapo and housing leaders at the Idaho Capitol in Boise to talk about making housing more affordable using fewer burdensome rules and enhanced tax credits.
